Maphutha Adams

Chief Commercial and Logistics Officer

Maphutha is the Chief Commercial and Logistics Officer for United Manganese of Kalahari (Pty) Ltd. He is responsible for the commercial, procurement, and logistics functions.

He has experience in the mining industry through fulfilling different operational and functional roles along the manganese value chain. He started his career as a Production Engineer at a BHP Billiton smelter. He later moved to the BHP Billiton South Africa corporate office, where he held different roles within the business planning function. He was later appointed to lead the integrated operations function at South 32 for the Manganese South Africa operations after the demerger of South 32 from BHP Billiton, and in this role he was responsible for logistics execution, integrated business planning, and analysis and improvement functions. He is passionate about people development and building sustainable business systems, and he also enjoys to collaboratively formulate and execute different business transformation projects.

He holds a BSc (Eng) (Metallurgy and Materials Engineering) and an MSc (Eng) (Mineral Economics) degrees, both from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg.
